You Tube Debate| Posted Thursday, November 29, 2007 at 11:26:23 AM | I watched the Republicans scramble around on stage attempting to answer a wide array of questions. I've noted some of the answers below.
The question was: Would your VP have as much power as the existing VP? No one answered the question directly and all seemed reluctant to speak poorly of the existing situation.
Romney's answer to a question over the runaway federal budget: You can't get out of the box thinking inside the belt politics. This is something I've stated a number of times. All these people are responsible for our existing problems.
Another question was how will you, as President, bring the budget under control? Every single one of these candidates said that they never voted for a tax increase; yet here we are today. If they haven't been successful for twenty years, why are they going to be successful now?
A question was presented regarding farm subsidies and no one spoke out against the subsidies. All suggested that the small farmer needed the subsidies to compete with foreign markets, to produce foods for export and to stay in business. No suggested that the small family farm is almost out of existence and that the main beneficaries of subsidies are the huge corporations. They like the oil companies are double dipping and the voters are supporting that practice.
A question over illegal immigration was answered by McCain. He admitted his failure with the comprehensive immigration reform act and said that he would now promote security and the building of the fence before anything else. Then he went on to say something like: Remember these immigrants are God's children too and deserve our love and compassion. So here we are feeding them, offering medical assistance, giving them driver's licenses at the cost of untold millions of dollars in taxpayer's money and now you want me to love it? John, your way off base!
Finally, Ron Paul had a direct question regarding one of my favorite topics, the conspiracy theory aobut the North American Union. He gave a pretty good answer, I wish he had gone further. He said, The Council for Foreign Relations, Trilateral Commission, NAFTA superhighway, North American Union all exist and just aren't talked about. It is a competition in ideology between globalists and nationalism and not a conspiracy. He said it threatens our national sovereignty. Thank You, Mr. Paul!
That's my take on the debate.
