"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
I've heard from a number of folks regarding my posts on the North American Union.
There appears to be two schools of thought; Why bother to restate the obvious(?) or What are these people thinking?
The argument made by the individuals stating that this is the trend in the world is purely economic. They use the argument that foreign companies investing in the US helps drive our enconomy. They also state that in order to compete on the world stage in this global enconomy the Americas should unite as has the European nations. When you consider our existing tade policies on a purely economic level their argument makes sense.
The argument made by the other writers, whose opinion I prefer, is that this proposed union has a negative impact on American sovereignty. I'm concerned that once we give away any fraction of our sovereignty it will be impossible to recover.
