Headquartered at Camp Hatteras in Waves this year 300 surf fishermen took part in this event.
As reported in The Coastland Times top prize went to the fisherman landing a 31.58 lb. striper. Fifth place awards were given for two fish in the 18 lb. range. 2nd, 3rd & 4th place awards ranged for fish weighing in between these two extremes.
The total number of fish caught and their combined weights weren't given, but it appears that there was plenty of action to be had in the surf.
Hopefully this means the cooler weather has the fish moving south and we can look forward to another great rockfish season. See you on the beach.
