Ruling Class| Posted Sunday, October 28, 2007 at 10:57:57 AM | As the American public relaxed into everyday life and concentrated on earning a living after WWII, the political machine insidiously gained more and more power. Now that our politicians have the power, it will be very difficult to wrest it away from them.
Consider the Larry Craig situation, another ugly blight on the Republican party. If you or I attempted to have a quilty plea thrown out, just imagine how long it would take to have the matter heard in front of a judge. Once it was heard the matter would be considered closed. But in the Craig case, if you don't like to second decision, go for a third time and continue to waste the courts time.
Consider the Tom Delay case and how long it took to get justice.
Consider the case of William Jefferson, the Louisiana Congressman, who is involved in a corruption case. If you or I were in a situation like this, we'd be fired on the spot. Jefferson remains in his seat until convicted.
The most absurd example would be Teddy Kennedy and Chappaquiddick certainly one of the most extreme examples of political power used for one's own best interest.
This list could go on and one, but one thing is certain. We have allowed these individuals to place themselves above the law.
Let's expect nothing less from our elected officials than we expect from ourselves! | |
