As the various primary days rapidly approach the talking heads are filling the air waves with their ever changing assessment of the situation. Less and less time is being taken assessing the candidate's platforms as more time is be taken up assessing their strategy.

This morning I listened to a couple of highly respected reporters gushing over how they loved politics. It seemed their day was being made every time a candidate made a move.

And this is exactly where I find fault with the modern day news programming. They love politics and therefore force feed the general public politics while ignoring major issues of the day. No longer are the networks reporting news, they determine the news worth reporting.

The voting public never asked for a two year campaign that will cost in total over a Billion dollars. The political parties determined the length of the campaign and the news media determined that they would cover every blip on every candidate's radar screen.

With all the time spent on forecasting the race and following the candidates around the country, particular penetrating questions are never asked. I would like to hear the candidates of the major parties asked, for example: Why they believe that there has been such a migration to the Independent party. Wouldn't this suggest to the to major parties that they no longer represent the people and the people are fed up with the current situation?

Let's focus on the issues facing our nation and not on the candidate du jour.
