Becoming a hurricane in advance of it's visit to the Outer Banks, Noel stopped in to spend the night.
Gusty winds, high surf, little rain, beach erosion and Hwy. 12 closure in Rodanthe were the tell tale signs of its arrival. We did have a power outage for about three hours, as of yet I still don't know the cause.
This morning the high tide mark on the beach was at the dune lines in many areas. The wind has continued to slacken all morning, it's blowing something in the 15 mph range now.
I understand that Hwy. 12 is still closed and expected to re-open mid-afternoon.
So another late season hurricane comes and goes leaving us relatively unscathed.
