All the latest polls show that there is no true front runner in the campaign.
While Hillary was at one time considered invincible, Obama has been making a strong run at her. In the Democratic ranks that appears to be the main battle. Edwards continues to have some popularity, but I think is seen as a spoiler instead of a contender.
The Republican field is wide open and and on any given day or poll one candidate appears stronger than the others. But there is no continuity to the polls so an argument can be made for any candidate.
The most we can hope is that people vote with their minds, instead of their emotions. I've heard women say they'll vote for Hillary becuase it is high time we had a woman President. I've heard African Americans say that they'll vote for Obama since it is high time that we had an African American President. I've heard latinos say they'll vote for Richardson because it is high time we had a latino President. But, I've not heard any of these individuals say that they'll vote for those candidates because of their qualifications.
We ought to put our petty interests aside and vote as Americans! If we do what is right for this country, the rest of these matters will happen in due time. If we continue to vote our self-interests, I believe that we will continue to head down this road that some 70% of the American public feels is the wrong road.
